A Little Background on The Dorky Electrician

The Dorky Electrician – Then

Hi, I’m Russ — better known as The Dorky Electrician — and I’ve been fascinated with electricity for as long as I can remember.

As a kid, I spent a lot of time learning from my dad. He was the kind of guy who could build anything, and his interests rubbed off on me — model trains, guitars, woodworking, and of course, electricity.

One of the first things he ever taught me was how to build a working telegraph. We made it using a piece of steel banding, some scrap wood, and a model train transformer. I had no idea how much that moment would shape my future.

From that point on, I was hooked.

The Dorky Electrician – Now

I now have over 28 years of hands-on experience as a field service electrician. I started out as an apprentice, became a journeyman, and eventually earned my Master Electrician license from the City of Allentown, PA.

Over the years, I’ve tackled all kinds of electrical jobs — from installing high-voltage cables and transformers at McGuire Air Force Base and Fort Bragg, to working in the historic Hindenburg blimp hangar in Lakehurst, NJ.

Later, I joined a small family-owned electrical contractor in Flemington, NJ, where I gained valuable experience across residential homes, car dealerships, office buildings, and commercial spaces.

Today, I’m based in Coplay, PA and proud to serve the entire Lehigh Valley area.

Why I Do This

My mission is simple: help as many people as possible with their electrical problems, renovations, and projects — and do it honestly, efficiently, and with a little bit of dorky charm.

I’m not a big franchise. I’m a local, licensed electrician who shows up on time, explains everything clearly, and treats your home like it’s my own.

Most importantly, I do this to support my family — and to keep doing the work I love.
